GRANT AND MACCA
Thursday 22 January, 2004
The winds of change continued to sweep through Upton Park this week as Alan Pardew named Bournemouth coach Peter Grant as his new right-hand man.
Following the departure of his previous No.2, Paul Goddard, on Tuesday, the Hammers boss wasted no time in filling the vacant position on his coaching staff.
Grant, 38, has gradually built up a reputation as one of the Football League's brightest young coaches after hanging up his boots at Dean Court in the summer of 2002.
Prior to his spell on the south coast, Grant spent a year at Reading where he first crossed paths with Pardew and also enjoyed two years at Norwich City.
However, it is in his native Scotland that Grant is best known, having spent 15 years as a player at Celtic, where he played alongside Frank McAvennie in the famous 1987-88 double-winning Centenary side.
